About Brendan

You may assumethat having grown up as the son of Goodwin’s founder, Ashley Goodwin, BrendanGoodwin would naturally step into a real estate career.  However, youwould be wrong.

Aftergraduating from Otago University, with a Law Degree & Bachelor of Arts.Brendan instead embarked on a career in commercial property law, which saw himspend seven years working in New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

It was onlyafter Brendan’s return to New Zealand in 2017 with his wife Aleina (now Goodwin’sOperations/HR Manager) that he made the decision to enter the family businessso he could not only support his sister and Goodwins Managing Director,Catherine but also help take the business to new heights.

Brendan’sinitial role at Goodwins was as a specialist new business manager whereby hisfocus was on growth and new markets. One highlightduring that time was when he secured an exclusive partnership with 2021America’s Cup challenger, American Magic.  That project grew and, over thecourse of three years, Brendan ended up negotiating 131 tenancy agreementsranging from $850-$30,000p/w to all three America’s Cup challengers, theChallenger of Record, executives from INEOS, and team owners.  All thiswhile getting married, having a son – Jacob, purchasing a home, and preparing towelcome daughter Leila into the world.

Of course,Brendan’s drive to continually seek out opportunities meant that wasn’t all heachieved.  His ‘film career’ also took off with him fosteringrelationships with major film studios that resulted in Goodwins securingrentals for the stars and crews from Warner Bros, Amazon Studios (Lord of theRings), Netflix & the recent Academy Award-winning film, Power of the Dog.

The power ofthe relationships Brendan has built for Goodwins now sees the company regularlyworking with globally-recognised high net worth individuals, sports stars, andother Hollywood names and presenting landmark properties such as WaihekeIsland’s Te Rere Cove and Hauraki Gulf’s Hurakia Lodge.

As a result ofhis work, Brendan has won the REINZ Business Development Manager of the Yeartwice (2019 & 2020). Fast-forward to 2022and Brendan is looking forward to bringing his passionate, yet professional"can do" attitude, first-class negotiation skills, and experience to Goodwins’ salesdivision.  His success has been built by hard work and that, coupled withhis drive to pursue every opportunity, is what he believes helps result inproducing exceptional results for his clients.
